We recently had the pleasure of re-designing Kendra’s family Heirloom wedding gown for her Kansas City Wedding.  This dress has such a special history- Kendra was the fourth bride to wear this dress over three generations! The bride says “My grandmother wore it in 1956, Aunt wore it in 1979 and then my mother wore it in 1985. My grandmother said she remembers it was around $50 (obviously a good deal) since it was a ‘model sample’ !”

The gown features matte taffeta fabric with high quality Alencon lace, most likely imported from France due to the age and detail of the lace.  We completely recreated the bodice, re-cutting it into the sweetheart cut with a low V back and lace straps shown in the bride’s photos below. We adding inner structure and boning to support the new cut, and preserved original elements like lace appliques and buttons down the back.
